Day 1: Kathmandu.Arrive Katmandu traditional wel-come by our representative after transferred to our Hotel. Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing.
Everest Mountain Flight are offered by different Domestice Airlines in Kathmandu Valley operating their small but safest aircrafts. This one hour thrilling flight takes you to the Eastern Himalayan Ranges of Nepal, some of the highest peaks in the world. This breathtaking flight gives the best opportunity to get the closest and the magnificent view of Mount Everest (8,850mts) and other high stunning mountains, Shisa Pangma (8,013m), Gauri Shanker (7134m), Melungtse (7023m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Pumori (8171m), Nuptse (7855m), Lhotse (8516m) & Amadablam (6856m). Swayambhunath Stupa, a very sacred religious Buddhist shrine, also known as the “Monkey Temple”, 3 km to the northwest of downtown Kathmandu, is a 2500 years old Stupa situated on a hillock about 77 m above the ground level overlooking Kathmandu valley. The painted eyes on four sides in four directions represent the all seeing eyes of Buddha, watching all the time wrong doers and good doers. There are two Buddhist monasteries within the complex and a temple of Haratima where both Buddhists and Hindus worship. Swayambhunath Stupa is a golden spire crowning a conical wooded hill. It is the most ancient and enigmatic of all the holy shrines in Kathmandu Valley. It has a lofty white dome and a glittering golden spire that are visible from all sides of the valley. Historical records found on a stone inscription give evidence that the stupa was already an important Buddhist pilgrimage destination by the 5th century A.D. i.e. before the coming of Buddhism in the valley.
Patan Durbar Square complex, situated in the center of Patan city, also known as Lalitpur, houses the residence of the former Patan royal family. It is one of the ten UNESCO World Heritage Site of the country. Patan Square and its surroundings are good specimen of ancient Newari architecture. There are three main courtyards in the palace: Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshav Narayan Chowk. Mul Chowk, the oldest one, is at the centre of Patan square.Several multi-sized and multi-styled temples occupy the western part of the complex. Main among these are Krishna Temple, Bhimsen Temple and the Golden Temple of Hiranya Varna. Krishna Temple, this temple of red stone, dedicated to Hindu Lord Krishna was erected in the 17th century, considered to be the first one to be constructed in Shikara architecture, holds a commanding position in the durbar square., is compared with sacred Mount Meru, which is abode of the god Shiva according to Hindu scriptures. There is Mahaboudha, a Buddhist temple made of clay bricks, lies to the east of the Durbar Square. With Hundreds of Buddha images engraved in the bricks, is known for its fine terra cota work.
Kathmandu Durbar Square lies in the heart of the capital, popularly known as the Hanuman Dhoka Palace - the Gateway of Hanuman (God of monkey) - an ancient seat of Nepalese Royalty. Hanuman is regarded as the protector of the entire Palace. The Palace, constructed from the 15th – 18th centuries, consists of the huge Royal square imposing a tremendous variety of the temples dedicated to different Hindu Gods and Goddesses including Taleju Temple, Sweta and Black Bhairab, Kumari (The living goddess), along with Basantapur tower, Kastamandap (House of wood). Listed as one of the ten UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a cluster of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th and 18th centuries, is known to be the social, religious and urban focal point of the Capital City, was the royal Nepalese residence until the 19th century and is the site of important ceremonies, is decorated with elaborately-carved wooden windows and panels and it houses the King Tribhuwan Memorial Museum and the Mahendra Museum.
Day 3: Kathmandu sightseeing.
Baudhanath Stupa, 6 km east of downtown Kathmandu, is 36m high, built around the 5th century A.D., is one of the biggest Buddhist shrine in the world, one of the oldest and the biggest Buddhist monument ever built in the Himalayan Kingdom, is unique with its three level, mandala style, platforms. What Mecca is to the Muslims, this Boudhanath Stupa is for Tibetan Buddhists. Every year thousands of pilgrims flock here from all over the Himalayan region to pay their tribute with great reverance to all Buddhist deities. The Stupa is recognized with the prestigious status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Buddhanath Stupa, there are many monasteries or Gompa attractions all impressively adorned and colorfully painted. Anyone can visit the monasteries and take visuals.
Pashupatinath, 5 km east of downtown Kathmandu along the side of Bagmati river, is the famed biggest holiest temple for Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pashupatinath Temple, with its astonishing architectural beauty, stands as a symbol of faith, religion, culture and tradition. Regarded as the most sacred temple of Hindu Lord Shiva in the world, The Temple's existence dates back to 400 A.D. The two tier magnificient golden temple with four triple silver doorways is widely known for its superb temple architecture. It is one of the largest Hindu temple complexes in South-Asia with hundreds of Shiva Lingam shrines and icons of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Hindu pilgrim perform sacred rituals there with the thrilling scene of burning funeral pyres. During the Shivaratri festival (February – March) over 200 thousand devotees and pligrims ,many from India, visit this temple and make ceremonial fires. The Temple has been accorded the prestigious status of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the country. The Temple is recognized with the prestigious status of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is an assortment of pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five-window palace of brick and wood. The square is part of a charming valley as it highlights the idols of ancient kings perched on top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the wood carvings in very place - struts, lintels, tympanums, gateways and windows - all seem to form a well orchestrated symphony. It has been accorded with a prestigious status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. In and around the Square complex there are a number of complexes to be visited. The Lion Gate, the massive gate that dates back to 1696 AD guarded by two huge statues of lions at the either sides with the dreadful stone image of Lord Shiva, The Golden Gate is said to be the most beautiful and richly moulded specimen of its kind in the entire world. Among the brick walls with their gracious setting and sculptural design, is a balcony with fifty-five Windows, considered a unique masterpiece of woodcarving. Nyatapola is the most famous pagoda of Nepal, built in 1702 A.D by Bhupatendra Mala., dedicated to Siddhilaxmi, the tantric mother goddess of supreme power. Nyatapola in Newari means a five tiered symbolizing five basic elements - water, earth, fire, wind and sky.
Day 04. Kathmandu – Paro Arrive Paro (Flight).
Transfer Airport for flight to Bhutan – Our Representative in Bhutan will receive you at the Airport. After Tea, drive to the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong 16 km up the valley built in 1647 by the great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, father and unifier of medieval Bhutan, the dzong was destroyed by accidental fire and left in ruins as an evocative reminder of the great victories it was built to commemorate. Explore the ramparts and on a clear day experience an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m). On the way back, visit Kichu Lhakhang, built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo. Day 05. Paro, Excursion to Taktsang Monastery - Thimpu.
A very special day, with an excursion to view the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery - After breakfast a short drive takes us to Satsam Chorten, from there a 2 hour horse ride till the viewpoint point of the monastery. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. We stop for a rest and light refreshments at the Taktsang Jakhang (cafeteria) and then walk a short distance until we see, clearly and seemingly within reach, Taktsang monastery. The primary Lhakhang was built around Guru Rimpoche’s meditation cave in the 1684by the Penlop of Paro Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay, this incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava, the tantric mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, flew here on the back of a flying tiger, Dorji Drolo, said to be his favourite consort. After Lunch, visit Ta Dzong (built in1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum. Below the museum is the Paro Rimpung Dzong (literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the centre of civil and religious authority in this valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional cantilevered, covered bridge. In the evening, drive to Thimphu. Overnight hotel in Thimpu.
Day 06. Thimphu Sightseeing.
The day begins with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten (1974) built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and the Dupthop Lhakhang one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan. We then visit the National Library, stocked with ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thangkas (sacred Buddhist religious scrolls). After lunch we drive to the Traditional Medicine Institute where medicines are prepared according to ancient practices and to Lungtenzampa to observe the Royal silver smiths and Bhutanese paper factory at work. Other highlights include a visit to the Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). We drive to Simtokha Dzong; the oldest Dzong of Bhutan built by Shabdrung in 1627 and finally visit the Handicrafts Emporium followed by shopping for souvenirs in the shops of Thimphu. Day 07. Thimphu - Punakha: (72 Kms, 3 hours drive).
After breakfast, Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. If the weather is clear, we stop for a while at Dochula pass to view Higher Himalayas. On the way, visit Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. He subdued the demons with his “ Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”. In Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The construction of the Dzong was foretold by Guru Rimpoche, who predicted, “…a person named Namgyal will arrive at a hill that looks like an elephant”. There was a smaller building here called Dzong Chu (Small Dzong) that housed a statue of Buddha. It is said that Shabdrung ordered the architect, Zowe Palep, to sleep in front of the statue, while Palep was sleeping, the Shabdrung took him in his dreams to Zangtopelri and showed him the palace of Guru Rimpoche. From his vision, the architect conceived the design for the new Dzong, which in keeping with the tradition, was nevercommitted to paper. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). The war materials captured during the battle with Tibetans are preserved here. Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk convened the new national Assembly here in 1952.After Lunch, Excursion to Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling Monastery. Day 08 – Punakha – Gangtey-Wangdi back Punaka.
After breakfast drive to Gangtey. Enroute sightseeing in the valley of Wangdiphodrang, it includes: visit to Wangdiphodrang Dzong (from outside) built in 1638. Legend relates that as the people were searching for the site of the Dzong, four ravens were seen flying away in four directions. This was considered auspicious sign, representing the spread of Buddhist religion to the four points of the compass. The Dzong is situated at the confluence of Mo Chu and Tang Chu rivers. Drive further to Gangtey. While in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Gompa. Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the Monastery in 1613, and Tenzin Legpai Dhendup, the second re-incarnation, built the Monastery. The present Abbot, Kunzang Pema Namgyal is the ninth re-incarnation. It is a Nyingmapa monastery and is affiliated to other Nyingmapa monasteries including Tamshing in Bumthang. Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter. After lunch, Explore the valley.In the evening Drive back to Wangdi. Overnight hotel in Punaka.
Day 09. Punaka– Thimphu - Paro.
After breakfast, drive to Thimphu. After lunch, visit Folk Heritage Museum and Excursion to Cheri Monastery. In the evening, drive to Paro. Overnight hotel in Paro.
Day 10: Paro – Kathmandu (Flight).
Airport transfer and flight back to Kathmandu with Druk Air. In Kathmandu pick up from airport and transfer to hotel or continue with other programme. Overnight hotel in Katmandu.
Day 11: Kathmandu – Chitwan| 148 Kilometers | 5 hours | 150Meters.
We drive to Chitwan the Royal National Chitwan Park one of the Asia’s well known National park. This used to be the hunting ground for the royal family Nepal & England during 16th Century used to visit here for hunting. You will stay the night in one of the jungle resort in the village Sauraha, and you will see how the Tharu people live there. They will surprise you with the cultural Stick Dance at the evening. Day 12: Chitwan full day jungle safaris.
The jungle safari offers you different aspects: A dug-out canoe through the river tour over the Rapti River, visit Elephant breeding center then drive back to hotel for Lunch. After lunch we take another exciting elephant-back safari, we come across with the different species of animals; the one horn deers, monkeys and peacocks, etc. into the vast forest you have also have chances to see spotted beer and tigers. Day 13: Chitwan - Pokhara | 142 Kilometers | 4 hours | 850Meters.
Today we drive to the most beautiful valley of Pokhara. One of the best places on earth not to be missed. You have a splendid view at the peaks of the Annapurna massive, included the holy mountain Machhapuchhare (Fishtail). You can also visit the 6 km huge natural Phewa Lake on a boat or see it from one of the many cozy restaurants at the lakeside. Then the David’s fall and to the Tibetan refugee camp. We depart early morning for the sunrise and panoramic close view of Mt. Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri both are above 8000m after one and half hour walk to the top of Sanrankot hill. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 14: Pokhara – Kathmandu | 142 Kilometers | 4 hours | 850Meters.
Drive back through an exotic landscape and terraced hillside. Optional program rafting at the emerald green Trisuli River is popular for rafting, those who participated, get ready for rapid, we raft 2 hours. No experience is needed to raft, only the feeling for pleasure and the spirit of adventure. The experienced captain will sail you on the calm river with now and then a rapid, enough to get the taste of adventure. We take our lunch during the rafting on the riverside, this lunch is included the price and arrive Kathmandu in the afternoon check in hotel.
