The quest for distinctively unique single destination with unbounded diversity is accomplished with the extremely exceptional trip to DOLPA, the divine Mountain Kingdom at the foot of the Mighty Himalayasruns parallel to the image of the Shangri-la of Nepal in many aspects. It lures adventurers with promises of untouched natural splendour with immense fantasies. At the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayan rain shadow lies Dolpo - the legendary hidden land closed for years to trekkers. Dolpo remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal: time has stood still here for centuries as the inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done since time immemorial. Referred to as a wonderland shrouded in mystery, the Dolpo has been considered the last enclave of pure Tibetan culture left on earth. The thrilling high Tibetan plateaus, the breathtaking high passes, the rhythm of the fabulous caravans of yaks which ensure the salt supply to the low Himalayan valleys moving on old stone paved paths through mountains and narrow valleys, the placid lake, the beautiful rugged landscape and diverse eco-system with deep valleys, and alpine prairies, thorny bushes, many ancient monastries, the last sanctuary of medical plants, presence of ancient Buddhist culture and traditions are the fantasies of this unspoilt heaven hidden from the world, is magnificent to the weary eyes of modern man.

Dolpo is known for it’s pristine beauty and rugged charm, where one can still have opportunity to meet the wonderful nomadic people with their amazing life style almost untouched and unexplored. The stunning Himalayas offer an endless variety of fascinating landscapes, incredible cultures of great people who are of Tibetan descent, follow the pre-Buddhist Bon religion. The thrilling views, the breathtaking harsh environment and mystical traditions of mythical Dolpo is well captured and immortalized in “Caravan-The Himalayas”, a feature film by Eric Valli ”and you are recommended to view it before you start your journey. The film has well captured the realities of the inhabitants leading a precarious life in a harsh climate endeavouring to grow what they can from arid land. Called by the seasoned travellers the jewel of Dolpo, Lake Phoksundo, the deepest lake in Nepal, offers stunning beauty. Considered sacrosanct by the Dopla locals, it is highly admired for its aquamarine greenish blue color. No aquatic life in the lake pronounces that the water is crystal clear. Between banks of the spectacularly sacred Lake Phoksundo, the high passes and the villages such as Chharka, you will be able to revive the strong moments of this superb trip, all that in the middle of these people out of the common run who perpetuate a strange tradition which unfortunately has to disappear soon. The ecosystem encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife - the blue sheeps, Himalayan pheasants and snow leopards.
